The reaction pattern of ALK stain is important as it represents a fine cytoplasmic granularity without nuclear reactivity . This pattern is characteristic of the variant translocation Clathrin -ALK which is the typical translocation found in plasmoblastic large B Cell Lymphoma ,ALK -positive( formerly considered to be a full-length amplification , because of similarities of the molecular mass of the gene products). These lymphomas may be positive at IG stain, but may be light chain negative . Some of these tumors are IgA positive. Another hint for the B cell nature of this tumor is the weak CD30 stain. There is no report 0f ALK-positive PEL.
